MJC Sweeps Delta to move into First Place in the Big 8 Conference

Modesto Junior College softball swept Delta College in a doubleheader, winning 1-0 in Game 1 and 13-6 in Game 2, to move into first place in the Big 8 Conference. In Game 1, a first inning sacrifice fly by Katelyn Bridgeman drove in Sophia Coronado for the only run of the game, with Brooklyn Heffernan tossing a complete-game shutout to secure the victory. Game 2 saw a much higher-scoring affair, with Modesto coming from behind to dominate 13-6. Modesto's offense was powered by Sophia Coronado, who drove in four runs, and Ari Mejia, who contributed three RBIs. 

Heffernan earned another win in Game 2, pitching a complete game while allowing 12 hits but managing to hold off Delta's offense with key strikeouts and timely defense. With the sweep, Modesto improves to 16-9-1overall and 8-3 in conference play, taking the top spot in the Big 8 standings.
