
Blake Gross Wins 3C2A NorCal Decathlon Championship!
Modesto Junior College's Blake Gross emerged victorious in the 2025 3C2A Men's Northern California Decathlon Championships, securing a total score of 6497 points. This impressive performance marked a new personal best for Gross, as he outpaced his closest competitor, his brother Brock Gross, who finished second with 6412 points. Blake achieved personal bests in 4 of the 10 events and placing top 5 in every event. Throughout the competition, Blake demonstrated consistent skill across various events, including personal records in the 400 meters (49.29), Discus (33.63m), Pole Vault (4.0), and 1500 meters (4:34:08). He had and an impressive 15.87-second finish in the 110m hurdles. Blake had strong performances in the shot put (10.61m), long jump (6.18m), Javelin (41.49m) and High Jump (1.75m) showcasing his all-around athleticism. His victory in the decathlon further solidified his status as one of the top multi-event athletes in the state. Gross will now advance to the 3C2A State Championships, set to take place on May 16th and 17th at the College of San Mateo.
Blakes brother Brock Gross, secured an impressive second-place finish in the Men's 3C2A Northern California Decathlon with a personal record score of 6,412 points. His performance highlighted his all-around athleticism, with notable achievements across multiple events. Gross had personal records in 6 of the 10 events, winning four events. Brock had personal records in the Shot Put (10.61m), High Jump (1.78m), 400 meters (42.21), Discus (33.78m), Pole Vault (3.60m), and the 1500 meters (4:31:23). His other top performances were first place in the 100 meter (11.11), and the 110 Hurdles (15.46). This remarkable showing not only secured him a spot among the top decathletes in the state but also earned him a spot in the 3C2A State Championships.
Modesto's Kaden MacDannald (5185) and Ryan Espinoza (4622), finished 10th and 16th respectively.
