Pirates Win Coast vs Valley Invitational - MJC's Shaylan Roy-Williams and Blake Gross are Multiple Event Winners
The Modesto College Men's and Women's Track & Field teams showcased their dominance at the Coast vs. Valley Invitational, held at MJC this past Friday, with both teams emerging as champions. Among the standout performances, Shaylan Roy-Williams excelled, winning both the long jump and the 200-meter dash. Blake Gross claimed victory in the pole vault and was also a key member of the winning 4x100-meter relay team. The impressive results across various events highlighted the strength and depth of Modesto's track and field athletes, contributing to their overall success at the meet.
Modesto Junior College's women's field athletes put on a stellar performance at the Coast vs. Valley Invitational. Julia Pedretti led the way in the discus throw, taking first place with a distance of 41.84 meters. The long jump saw impressive results, with Shaylan Roy-Williams winning the event with a jump of 5.91 meters (19-4.75), followed by Kylie Nunes in second at 5.68 meters (18-7.50) and Kylie Davis in third at 5.57 meters (18-3.25). In pole vault, Claire Pierce claimed first with a jump of 3.36 meters (11-0.25), while Jade Thommes and Bonnie Hayes both cleared 3.21 meters (10-6.50) to finish in second and third. In the javelin throw, Jade Thommes finished eighth with a throw of 24.42 meters. Thommes also excelled in the high jump, taking first with a height of 1.60 meters (5-3.00), while Pedretti secured second at 1.50 meters (4-11.00). The Modesto "A" 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Ava Torres, Kyndell Johnston, Jada Orona, and Julia Pedretti, placed second with a time of 4:15.12, rounding out an impressive day for the field event competitors.
The Modesto women's track athletes delivered impressive performances across various events. Adamari Ron led the way in the 1500-meter run, finishing first with a time of 4:57.01. Shaylan Roy-Williams won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.54 seconds, just ahead of Kylie Nunes in second at 24.56. Savannah Brown dominated the 400-meter hurdles, securing first place in 1:10.01, followed by Deonna Wilson in second at 1:14.39.The 4x100-meter relay team, featuring Kylie Davis, Jada Orona, Ava Torres, and Kyndell Johnston, placed second with a time of 49.35 seconds. In the 100-meter race, Jada Orona placed fifth (12.91) and Kylie Davis finished seventh (12.93). Brady Wylie and Kiana Kutch placed fourth and seventh in the 800-meter run, while Mikayla Bueno and Isabella Carattini finished fifth and eighth in the 500-meter run. Modesto also earned second place in the 4x400-meter relay with the team of Ava Torres, Kyndell Johnston, Jada Orona, and Julia Pedretti finishing in 4:15.12. The team's overall performance highlighted their strength and depth at the meet.
The men's track team showcased impressive performances across multiple events. The 4x100-meter relay saw the "A" team of Sean Forte, Jeffrey Missouri, Joseph Long-Easterwood, and Blake Gross clinch first place with a time of 41.52 seconds, while the "B" and "C" teams also performed well, finishing fifth (43.64) and seventh (45.78), respectively. In individual events, Joseph Long-Easterwood placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.97 seconds, and Jeffrey Missouri took second in the 200-meter dash with 21.54 seconds. Dario Rodriguez and Omar Ayala finished second and third in the 800-meter run, clocking times of 2:00.29 and 2:01.28, respectively. Austin Hannink placed fourth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:14.52. The 4x400-meter relay teams also had strong finishes, with Modesto "B" securing second place in 3:29.34, and the "A" team finishing third in 3:32.92. These results highlighted the depth and talent of Modesto's men's track team at the meet.

In the shot put, Sebastian Arrizano took first place with a throw of 13.60 meters (44-7.50), and Lester Stavrianoudakis followed in second with a throw of 12.83 meters (42-1.00). In the discus throw, Lester Stavrianoudakis placed second with a throw of 42.95 meters, while Brandon Weinbrecht finished eighth with a throw of 37.56 meters. In the javelin throw, Logan Stevens secured seventh place with a throw of 38.91 meters (127-8.00). These results highlighted the strength and depth of Modesto's men's field event competitors.
