Modesto's Kylie Nunez and Blake Gross Win MJC Multi Invitational
Kylie Nunes, a sophomore from Oakdale high School, claimed victory in the Heptathlon at the MJC Multi Invitational with a total score of 4370 points. That score puts her 6th All-Time in the Heptathlon at MJC. Nunes displayed impressive versatility across all seven events, with standout performances in the 100-meter hurdles (14.69 seconds), high jump (1.43 meters), and long jump (5.36 meters), where she earned first-place finishes. She also triumphed in the 200-meter (26.16 seconds) and javelin (28.43 meters), further bolstering her winning total. Though she finished third in the shot put and 800-meter events, her consistency and dominant results in key events propelled her to the top spot in the competition, solidifying her position as the Heptathlon champion. Kylie broke a 39 year old school record in the 100-meter hurdles!
Blake Gross, a sophomore from Beyer High School, dominated the Decathalon at the MJC Multi Invitational, securing a first-place finish with an impressive total score of 6222 points. Blake is now 4th All-Time in the Decathlon at MJC. Gross showcased his athletic versatility by winning multiple events across various disciplines. He triumphed in the 100-meter with a time of 10.95 seconds, the long jump with a leap of 6.56 meters, and the high jump, clearing 1.73 meters. Additionally, he claimed victories in the 400-meter (51.88), pole vault (4.03 meters), and javelin (39.14 meters), further solidifying his all-around excellence. Gross also earned second-place finishes in the shot put, 110-meter hurdles, and discus, contributing to his stellar overall performance. His comprehensive skill set and consistent top finishes were key to his victory at the meet.
