Despite best performance in conference play, and only a 14 point difference, the Pirates' drop first home match of the season to No. 14 American River.
The Beavers snapped the Pirates home undefeated streak in last night's Big 8 conference match. The Pirates (9-6, 4-2 Big 8) were 9-0 at home on the season.
Pirates didn't go out without a fight against the state ranked No. 14 Beavers (14-5, 5-1 Big 8). Offensively the Pirates hit .238 as a team, their second best on the season. Ava Chiesa and Brionna Sims led with 10 kills and 9 kills, respectively, as well as team high 9 digs each. Kylie Kriese added 6 kills and 2 aces.
Setter Lanai Torres has been running a solid and balance offense for the Pirates. Torres is the current assist leader in Big 8 conference play, 191 total. She is 6th in total assist in state (443) and 12th in assists/set (8.2).
