2024 Women's Volleyball
Official Schedule Released for the Pirates
The Pirates look to continue their success from the 2023 season. The program has been on a historic run with three years of back to back post season appearances and back to back second round matches.
Notable returners for the Pirates include first team Big 8 Conference middle blocker Alize Martinez (Johansen HS). Martinez led the Pirates last season in hitting percentage (.213) and blocks (92). She was second on the team in kills (252).
Returning libero Jenna Dalen (Sierra HS) will serve a new role for the Pirates this season: setter. Dalen is excited to step into this new position and do what her team needs of her.
Added to the pin position is transfer redshirt Adrianna Powell (Manteca HS). Powell had a successful career at Manteca High as an outside hitter.
Rounding out the returners are defensive specialists Kelli Foster (Hughson HS) and Eden Velasco (Ripon HS) that will give the Pirates veteran experience in the passing and defense.
In addition to the veterans are the tallest class of freshman the Priates have ever had. Added to the front row are a trio of six foot attackers: 6'1" middle blocker Maya Gonzalez (Beyer HS), 6' outside hitter Alicia Souza (Hilmar HS) and 6' opposite Carsyn Van Zant (Manteca HS). Additional pin power will come from 5'8" pin Elise Vaifale (Sierra HS) and Makenzie Loechler (Ripon HS).
Pirates will run a 6-2 offense this season with Dalen and incoming freshman Macie Gimenes (Kimball HS). And final in the class of 2024 is defensive specialist Dianna Fonseca (Modesto HS).
Pirates first appearance will be the annual Royal & White Alumni Scrimmage, Friday August 16th, 6:00pm. Admission and parking are free, donations appreciated.
