Proverb Jacobs (1954-55)
School’s first great black athlete… All-league in football and two-time NorCal shot put champion… A two-sport standout at Cal (1956-58)… A member of ’58 college all-star team that beat NFL champion Detriot Tigers… Played for the Eagles, Giants and Raiders in NFL, scouted for 49ers from ’79 to ’85… Was a teacher at Laney CC.
